Nursery are Exploring Eddies!
The children thought carefully about one of our learning aliens today. They thought about how they can explore the world further working with each other and using their senses.
Today in nursery the children planted seeds in our nursery garden to help them answer the question ‘How do plants grow and change?’ The children thought carefully about the sequence of actions and what a seed needs to grow. The children worked together to give the seed everything it needs including soil, water , sunshine and the space to grow. Here are some of our snapshots!

Maths Week 2025- Challenge 1
Maths Week 2025 is here, and we’re kicking things off with an exciting home learning challenge! This is your chance to get creative, have fun with numbers, and showcase your mathematical thinking.
For our first home learning challenge, we’d like you to choose a number and create a poster displaying different ways to represent it. You can show your number using:
- Numerals (e.g. 7)
- Words (e.g. seven)
- Pictures (e.g. seven stars)
- Number sentences (e.g. 3 + 4 = 7)
- Arrays
- Tally marks
- Money
- Anything else creative!
How to Take Part
- Choose a number that inspires you.
- Design and decorate your poster using any materials you like – be as colourful and imaginative as possible!
- Make sure your poster clearly shows your chosen number in a variety of ways.
- Submit your entry to Mr Mumby by Friday to take part in the challenge.
We can’t wait to see your fantastic ‘Ways to Show a Number’ posters! Get your thinking caps on, grab your pencils, and start creating.

When I grow up I want to be a dentist
This week we have been learning about the job of a Dentist. The children have learnt about how we brush our teeth and the job of a dentist. They have loved cleaning giant teeth in Nursery and dressing up as a dentist.
Nurse Visit
The children were thrilled to have Henry’s Mum come to visit last week. Amy spoke abut her role as a Student Nurse, what doctors do and where they work. The children asked questions and even got to try on her uniform. Thank you so much for coming to talk to us Amy.
Celebrating Chinese New Year in Nursery
Today we have had a wonderful day celebrating Chinese New Year. The children have danced with masks on to Chinese music, made a Chinese dragon and were even brave enough to eat some Chinese food. Well done everyone.
National Storytelling Week – Coffee Afternoon
Next week (3rd Feb – 7th Feb) is National Storytelling Week and we are going to combine it with Maths Week!
