SEND Parent Handbook

This handbook has been created to assist parents in navigating the Doncaster SEND system, empowering them with knowledge about who is responsible for what and when. It provides a summary of the SEND system in Doncaster and outlines the journey children will take to receive the support they need to reach their full potential, both throughout their school years and into adulthood.

Every child and young person has the right to a quality education and should be supported to achieve their full potential. This handbook aims to help parents and carers understand how children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Doncaster schools can receive the necessary support, preparing them for adult life and successful futures.

This handbook should be used in conjunction with The Local Offer website, which is Doncaster Local Authority’s online resource offering information for families about Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
