Yesterday, Emily won the guess the iceberg game at the year 3/4 learning celebration. Today, class 12 competed to build the highest marshmallow tower. Talyor and Amelia won the style competition and the tallest tower was built by Luella, Neve and Isobel.
Yesterday, years 3&4 worked together to create a poster on Buddhism. The children were given time to research the religion and then they had to put their knowledge into a poster. It was so lovely to see the children work hard with other children from the other year group; children who may have never even spoken to one another before.
The quality of the posters were awesome and it was so hard to choose one group as a winner! But these girls worked so hard all morning, critiquing their drawings and their facts to make it even better! Well done to Emily, Maddy and Zoey who won the poster competition!
Thank you to all who attended our celebration event this morning to celebrate our theme learning “why are you running for your life?” Staff and children have worked hard to create a fun event which could contribute to our ongoing fundraising for the charity “habitat for humanity”. Thank you for your contributions; as always, it is really appreciated.
The 3/4 team
A huge well done to the 3/4 boys who played extremely well against Marshland tonight. I saw some awesome teamwork and some great footballing skills and I am very proud! Thank you to Mr Oldridge for refereeing and to parents and carers for coming to watch!
The boys will have more matches after Easter to look forward to!
A huge well done to my girls tonight! They have played so well and I couldn’t be prouder! They all have great dedication coming to training every week and I have seen such an improvement since they first started! Keep it up girls ready for the next match!
Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came to support the girls, it’s really appreciated!
Cohen and Archie have made huge improvements in maths! We’re very proud of their Can-do Colin attitudes. So proud that we thought they should pay Miss Salter a visit.
Last weeks collaboration champions were voted for by their classmates. Three groups tied for the trophy!
I have been made aware of a potential closure of the memorial park due to the forecast of high winds.
The Thorne Moorends Town Council Facebook page states
‘Current forecasts suggest that we may experience wind gusts of up to 56mph overnight and tomorrow. If such winds do arise, due to the high number of trees in the park we may need to close access to Thorne Memorial Park for safety reasons. Access to the café however will be maintained.
We know that a number of parents use the park as a shortcut to Green Top Primary School so please potentially plan your journeys on the basis that access to the park may be restricted.’
Just a reminder that as part of our current Theme, Natural Disasters, Year 3 and 4 will be taking part in a charity fundraising day on Friday 29th March 2019 in aid of the fantastic charity, Habitat for Humanity GB.
Children in Year 3 and 4 will be allowed to wear Pyjamas that day with a donation of 50p.
Any questions, please see your child’s class teacher.
