Year 2 spellings
Y3 XP Outdoors reminder!!
Tomorrow is Year 3s XP Outdoors day.
Please can we remind all parents/carers to ensure that the children bring their XP outdoors kit with them tomorrow. This includes a change of clothes and footwear suitable for spending time outdoors (weather appropriate) as well as sunscreen / hat and a water bottle during particularly warmer weather.

Share a Story Month!
Don’t forget this month is ‘Share a Story Month’ and we are encouraging you to enjoy lots of stories together!
Please send me any photos of your children enjoying reading (feel free to get involved yourselves!) so I can make a video of our school community sharing stories this month! This is for everyone to get involved in and photos can be emailed to teachers or to me on [email protected]

Y6: SATs 2024
Dear Year 6 Parents,
As we approach the end of the academic year, it’s time for our Year 6 students to undertake their SATs. SATs week starts on the 13th of May and finishes on the 16th of May. On these days, doors will be open from 8:15 with all children expected to be in school by 8:30 as usual. We will provide some breakfast options such as cereal bars to ensure they start their day well and are ready to tackle the challenges ahead. It’s essential that they arrive on time to reduce any stress that they might experience from rushing.
We understand that this can be a stressful time for both students and parents, and we want to reassure you that we will be on hand to provide guidance and support throughout the week. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions.
We would also like to let you know that on the 17th May (Friday), to acknowledge the hard work of our Year 6 students, we have arranged for the children to have bacon sandwiches at the start of the day in addition to a visit from the ice-cream van on Friday afternoon. Y6 fundraising will cover the cost of these treats, so you do not need to send any money.
We believe that it’s important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students, and this treat is just one small way of saying well done for their effort and commitment.

Beautiful Work This Week
We’re celebrating EL’s #BetterWorldDay at XP Trust!
Better World Day is EL Education’s annual event showcasing student learning that contributes to a better world. Students work in partnership with each other and their local communities on this day to engage in and celebrate meaningful student work that positively impacts the world around them.
As a partner and friend of the EL Schools Network, XP Trust contributes to this every year. Like students at EL, all of our students are active citizens who engage in acts of service to their community – so naturally we have lots of Activism to share with the EL Crew.
This year, we’re celebrating all of our schools and their collective work. They’ve planted trees, created artwork for hospitals and raised money for worthy causes. Here’s just a few examples from this year of XP Schools making the world a better place.
Visitors from Northern Ireland!
Last week we welcomed a delegation from Catalyst Schools, an organisation in Northern Ireland that supports school leaders and teachers by exposing them to innovative educational experiences. Over the visit, they learned all about Crew and Expeditions from our awesome students at XP and XP East – including going to see world from across the Trust in Doncaster City Centre. As always we are delighted to welcome visitors into our Crew and share the beautiful work our students do every single day with the world.

KS1 Arts and Crafts club
Arts and crafts club managed to find some sun yesterday! The children sat out in the sun for the chance to draw something that they could see, before we headed back in to colour them in. They focused on all the little details around us and worked so hard to create beautiful pieces of art work! Hopefully the sun will return next week so we can get back outside.
Year 4: Mayans and chocolate!
Year 4 have been learning all about the importance of chocolate to the Mayan culture. They looked at how the warriors used chocolate, how the Mayans used it for trade, and how it linked to religion.
Did you know the Mayans thought chocolate was a gift from the gods and was more valuable than gold?
Crew Knowles: SPaG Lesson
We have practised using subordinate conjunctions this week to add further detail to our sentences. We used roll mats to generate subordinate conjunctions that either had to go at the start of our sentences or in the middle.
