Learning Council

Meet the members of Green Top’s 2021-2022 Learning Council!

They are all doing a wonderful job so far and have taken part in Maths Week, interviewing and showing visitors around school! I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next!

How does the size of shadows change?

Today in Expedition, we investigated how shadows change shape depending on how close to a light source they are.

In groups, the children made predictions, carried out their investigations, recorded their results and even created a bar chart to help us clearly identify the trends.

A big shout out to all of our Crew for their awesome collaboration!

Anti-bullying Week

I have been so proud of all the maturity, kind words and understanding around bullying this week. We agreed that we needed to ‘make a stand and raise our hands’ against bullying. We decided to create a crew pledge that we will have displayed in our classroom to remind us of the importance of kindness.
I’m so proud of you all – you all make me smile every day!

Children in Need 2021

A big thank you and well done to everyone in my Crew for supporting Children in need throughout the week and today. You all looked fantastic and an extra shout out to all those home made t-shirts, they looked awesome!

One kind word :)

In G Block this week, Year 4 created their own versions of what ‘one kind word’ meant to them by working collaboratively to produce a poster.

In their groups, children discussed different situations that they may have been in and explained how that made them feel and reflected on how moving forward, a simple kind word can make all the difference.

ODD SOCKS DAY!

We were all so excited to wear our Odd Socks today in support of Anti-Bullying Week. We spoke about the importance of friendship and kindness and will be focussing on this throughout the week.

WE WILL ROCK YOU!!

What a fantastic turn out for TT Rockstars day! You have all blown me away with all the effort you have put into your outfits. Not only that, but I have been super impressed with your confidence in your times tables! What a great way to end Maths Week!!

Kian’s Marvellous Maths!

A big shout out to Kian for his amazing maths work this week. He has grappled every day with lots of tricky subtraction questions and he can independently subtract numbers with up to 4 digits!! What a fab achievement this week Kian. Super proud!

The Roman Beanfeast!

Yesterday, we finished one of our Key Texts – The Roman Beanfeast and the children enjoyed answering a selection of retrieval questions based on one of the chapters.

In groups, the children collaboratively read a chapter of the story and scanned the text to retrieve their answers accurately.

Well done everyone!

CHALLENGE – I wonder if you can write a book review or a poster with information from ‘The Roman Beanfeast’ – See me for a dip out of my treat box!

Crew Myers – Lending Library!!

Over the last couple of weeks we have set up our Lending Library and it has been a pleasure to see lots of children excited about wanting to take books home to read.

This week our reading shout out goes to Clio – she took a book home to read and has successfully returned it and even used the story to write our class a letter using the Viking Alphabet! We can’t wait to work out what our secret message says! A very big well done Clio – and a huge Happy Birthday too!
