Let’s support! Small changes that make a big difference!

Ariel are asking you to support their campaign by pledging to make a change!

Washing colder is a big step towards a brighter future for our planet because did you know, the temperature of your wash makes up to 60% of your laundry’s CO2 footprint?

Can you challenge friends and family to lower the temperature next time they do their laundry? When Ariel hit 1 million pledges, they will donate £100,000 to WWF’s climate, polar and wider conservation work. Not only this, but they will also make a donation for every Ariel pods cold wash special patch that is purchased too.

Can you help us with this and pledge to make a change? Follow the link…

Digital Leaders, we need you!

What a great hangout we had this morning with Jamie Portman about the launch of Digital Leaders.

We were joined with over 1200 other children and students from across the trust to learn about this new exciting role that is being launched to certain year groups across our schools.

Remember guys, if you are interested and think that this role would be perfect for you, you can apply through this link:

If you have any questions about this, pop and see Mr Taylor as he is our DL representative in school.

Good luck everyone!

Learning the skills of Netball in Year 4!

In PE over the last couple of weeks, we have been learning and mastering the skills that are required to play Netball. We’ve focussed on the throwing and catching techniques whilst also developing our accuracy skills to throw our balls in to the net.

Next week, we hope to look at the rules of a match and then applying these skills within a match.

Well done everyone!

Mr Oldridge, Mrs Faulding and Miss Myers x

Shout out!

A huge well done to our final learning legends of the week!

Both Mason and India blew me away with their setting descriptions of Svalbard today. They carefully magpied vocabulary from our story and filled their writing with lots of our writing features!
Well done guys!

Digital Leaders

Notice for all students in Year 2 to Year 5!

Students in Year 2, 3, 4 and 5 have an amazing opportunity to become a Digital Leader within their class.

This is a fantastic opportunity for children to develop their own individual skills when it comes to the latest technology. Children who are successful will get the opportunity to visit XP East and potentially the Apple Store to have further training on how to use technology including iPads, MacBooks and some of the other great products that are used throughout school. Our Digital Leaders will then become the experts who can then pass on their knowledge to others.

Below is a link to the Digital Leaders website where you can find out further information.

https://sites.google.com/xpeast.org/digital-leader-applications/home

Applications will need to be sent to Mr Taylor by Thursday 3rd February explaining why you would make a fantastic Digital Leader. This can be done in a format of your choice including a letter, slides or even a video showcasing your IT skills.

We look forward to receiving your applications!

A journey through the story

Yesterday, Year 4 went on a magical arctic adventure through our book ‘The Last Bear’. We used the hall and made it dark, twinkly and COLD to create the experience of life in the arctic.

The Children read extracts and investigated images from the story and made inferences about what has happened so far. After visiting each station, they then left their responses on the paper to show their understanding of the text. We were all amazed with the amazing learning behaviours in the hall and the great reading that was taking place.

Look at the AWESOME responses that were made from the story – absolutely great learning and understanding of the text and our Expedition so far! We are super impressed.

SHOUT OUT!

A big well done to Amelia and Phil today! They have both worked really hard in maths to meet their ME and link their time tables knowledge to help them confidently find fractions of amounts!

Awesome job guys!

Crew Myers had a visit from some polar bears!

Yesterday, in Crew Myers we had a visit from some fantastic polar bears! The children used their knowledge of the story so far and made inferences from the text to take part in a hot seat activity. Our polar bears were so brave and could make links between the story and our expedition learning! I was super impressed with how in character everyone was, the amount of respect everyone had for each other and the excellent use of vocabulary throughout the activity!

After the hot seat, we then responded to a question making links between the characters and their feelings in the story and what is happening in Svalbard. I am so proud of my super stars! Well done everyone!

Our Legends!

A big shout out and well done to our learning legends Hattie, Evan and Macie. Also a big well done to Theo for being this weeks “out of this world” winner!
