This week in English, we have looked closely at song lyrics and poetry. As a re-hook we used Michael Jackson’s Earth Song and looked at the emotive language used, the rhythm and rhyme and the meaning behind the song. The children linked the song brilliantly to our Expedition and decided to make a stand!
we focussed on all the different factors and the children chose something they wanted to make a stand about to make our world a better place.
We then used the iPads to look closely at the lyrics and the vocabulary used in the song. In groups, the children created a vocabulary wall of all the language that stood out to them.
I can’t wait to see lots of poems using some of these awesome key words!

This afternoon Year 4 took part in a Road Safety session provided by Doncaster Council. We watched various different scenarios surrounding the dangers posed when crossing roads and discussed how these situations could have been avoided.
You all had such sensible suggestions and had lots of prior knowledge already so well done everyone! Now it’s just ensuring that we remember these when we are out and about to keep ourselves and others safe!
A huge well done to this weeks HoWL point winners! You are all setting a great example to your crews by working hard, getting smart and being kind. Keep it up!
Also, a shout out to Crew Faulding, Crew Myers and Crew Barnett on getting 100% attendance last week. Let’s hope that we keep this momentum after half term too!
