EYFS Celebration Event

Who will we see in the Woods today?

The children presented their first learning exploration for the EYFS and we held a premiere of their first music video! It was great to see the children and families enjoying their red carpet experience! The music DVD was a huge hit and we have been invited to take a group of the EYFS children to a recording studio to record the track professionally! So exciting!

We were truly overwhelmed by the number of attendees! Thanks for your continued support.

We hope you loved the DVD as much as we do!

Parents meeting on phonics and reading

Thank you to all the parents and grandparents that attended the phonics and reading meeting  this morning for F2 and KS1.  It was a great turnout and hopefully gave parents the information they need to help them support their child with reading at home.  The presentation and all handouts can be found on the school website.

We are very excited to announce the launch of our new reading challenge next week.  Look out for the letter your child will be bringing home explaining more about it.  See if you can spot the reading challenge displays as they appear in classrooms over the next week.  We look forward to seeing who can achieve the bronze award first!

Roots of Empathy

Yesterday, Mrs Dewsnap came to deliver our first Roots of Empathy session and we had lots of fun.

Before our first visit from Baby Benny next week, we have been asked to name the ROE doll. We have had a circle to think of some name suggestions (and decided it’s a boy) and would like parents and children to vote for the best name!

1. Max

2. Rocky

3. Toby

4. Olaf

Cast your votes by commenting on this post! We will decide the winner on Tuesday 21st.

If you go down to the woods today…

The EYFS went to Thorne Community Woods this morning. We explored the surroundings, looking at the different trees, leaves and features of our local area. We took some video and photographic footage for our celebration event at the end of our theme.

Unfortunately we didn’t find a Gruffalo today but we had a great morning out in the local area, exploring the squelchy mud, fresh morning air and brisk walk down to the orchard.

Thanks to all the parents and carers who were able to support our local walk this morning – we appreciate your continued support!

KS1 and EYFS house point award winners

Well done to the KS1 and EYFS house point winners this week! It was a delight to deliver assembly this morning and announce the winners. We celebrated lots of successes in and out of school. I have also set the new attendance challenge – let’s see which class is the winner!

Beautiful dancers competing out of school

I was delighted to receive an email from a parent this weekend sharing with me the awesome achievement of these 4 girls in a dance competition. ‘The girls performed as part of the Angela Gravil School of Dance in their first ever competitions and placed 3rd out their section,’.

The girls were very beautiful ‘Ugly Ducklings’! I can’t wait to hear all about it girls!!

If you have any news you’d like to share with the EYFS team and classes  please email me on the EYFS@greentopschool.co.uk email address.
